The 3 Cs of an Engaged Workforce
Here at WWT, we have been recognized as a Great Place to Work for All for 12 years in a row. We are proud of this honor and continue to work hard to engage our employees across the globe and ensure a sense of belonging for everyone.
To engage our global workforce, we rely on 3 Cs: community, caring and culture.
Community
WWT's Global Community Impact (GCI) program supports causes within the areas of career readiness and STEM education, health & wellness and human services.
Across the globe, our teams support their communities by identifying opportunities that align with our Global Community Impact pillars, as well as local needs. By empowering teams to follow their passions, we meet our employees where they are. Through this, we have a greater impact by tailoring outreach to each specific community's needs.
At our European Integration Center (EIC) in the Netherlands, team members are engaged with nonprofits throughout the year. This highly diverse team, consisting of employees representing over 40 nationalities and speaking over 30 languages, is passionate about supporting their neighbors and helping provide basic needs to those in crisis. WWT EIC employees worked with Charity Present Leiden, cleaning and painting a house for a group of refugees from Ukraine. Continuing their work with Charity Present Leiden, employees also donated money to purchase items for holiday care packages, coming together to pack and deliver the boxes to individuals in need. The local Human Resources team auctioned off WWT swag to raise money for earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey. Several employees are also engaged in a long-term project to help Sri Lankan students learn English.
These unique projects help fulfill WWT's overarching community goals while honoring local teams and empowering them to choose how they engage.
Caring
The WWT Cares program hosts WWT's Day of Caring benefit. Each WWT employee receives one Day of Caring per year – 8 hours of paid time to volunteer at a nonprofit, or "VTO," Volunteer Time Off, if you will.
In 2022, the Global Community Impact team implemented a company-wide campaign, May of Caring, a month-long initiative to engage employees in the community. More than 600 global team members supported more than 50 of their favorite nonprofits through 3,500 volunteer hours.
In Ruskin, Florida, our VETS Employee Resource Group (ERG) has established a relationship with My Warrior's Place, a retreat center for veterans and military service members. They spent their Day of Caring at the retreat, making improvements to the facility — most recently helping to restore the organization after Hurricane Ian. Together, they spent more than 30 hours working at the retreat over two days.
Culture
Finally, our culture. All the things mentioned above contribute to our culture, but when it comes down to it, our culture is rooted in our core values.
THE PATH, is an acronym for the World Wide Technology core values: Trust, Humility, Embrace Change, Passion, Attitude, Team Player and Honesty. These values permeate everything we do, and guide us in our interactions – how we work, how we act, how we treat each other and how we show up in our communities. THE PATH is our path, reminding us to stay true to ourselves and to the WWT vision and mission.
To put our core values into action, in our North American Integration Centers (NAIC) in Edwardsville, IL, the Great Place to Work for All committee plans events and activities for employees to build connections with each other. Events have included movie viewings, trivia, scavenger hunts, tie-dye to celebrate DE&I and more.
As part of WWT's annual United Way campaign, our NAIC facilities hosted Service2Go project. Understanding our workforce, and meeting employees where they are, hundreds of WWT employees assembled reading kits, right inside of the WWT NAIC facilities. Each reading kit included a drawstring backpack, a book and a hand-stuffed furry friend, along with handwritten notes. Between our 4 NAIC facilities, teams assembled 1,500 kits to be distributed to local children through the United Way.
Creating positive change — the bonus C
At WWT, our vision is to be the best technology solution provider in the world, and we know this happens by disruption. Our bonus "C" is creating change. Through our student-focused efforts like Hour of Code and STEM Student Forum, we engage youth to inspire them to pursue the STEM field. Our sustainability efforts aim to create positive change for the environment. We also work to use our technology for good like helping displaced individuals gain internet access.
WWT combines community, caring and culture to cultivate our engaged workforce that is equipped to create change. We aim to make employees feel included, supported and heard, no matter where they work within the company. This, along with our world-class benefits, strong leaders and above all, our incredible workforce, make us a Great Place to Work for All.
