WWT’s Lunar New Year Celebration (Internal Only)

Event Overview

More than 1/5th of the world’s population (1.5 billion people) celebrate Lunar New Year. Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, marks the beginning of a new year and fresh starts. Traditionally, celebrations include taking time to visit with family and friends, enjoying feasts, and sharing good fortune and blessings. Join WWT’s APAC team and Ohana ERG as we celebrate the 2021 Lunar New Year with traditional activities that you and your families can do at home!

What to expect

Learn how WWT Employees around the world celebrate Lunar New Year and participate in the following activities:
  • Live New Year Paper Decorating Cutting Demonstration (If you'd like to follow along at home, please prepare 5 square sheets of red paper, approximately 7.5in x 7.5in)
  • Dumpling Making Demonstration (See attachments for recipe)
  • Gu Zheng Performance
  • Chinese Traditional Dance
  • Chinese Zodiac Reading
  • Chinese Calligraphy Demonstration

Goals and Objectives

Ohana means family - physical and intentional. The Ohana ERG connects its members and their communities by leveraging its unique perspective to increase cultural awareness, build relationships, and inspire its members to drive change. Who should attend?

Open to all WWT employees and their families. *For anyone interested in following along with the live paper cutting demonstration, please be prepared with the following supplies - square sized red or pink paper & scissors.
