Hands-On Lab Workshop: Infrastructure Source of Truth:Netbox

Event Overview

Join us for the Virtual Lab Workshop, where we'll introduce the Infrastructure Source of Truth Learning Series. This series is designed for infrastructure engineers to learn how to manage data for automation effectively. You'll explore the concept of a "Source of Truth" (SoT) and key considerations for building one. The session covers two SoT solutions: Text File-based SoT and NetBox as a SoT. In the Text File module, you'll learn how to manage and use text files in automation. The NetBox module will teach you how to interface with NetBox for managing variable data and inventory. The workshop includes hands-on labs with guided challenges to reinforce these concepts, providing practical experience with both file-based and NetBox SoT solutions.

What to expect

This hands-on, interactive session will explore using NetBox as a source of truth in your Ansible Automation. The author of the "Infrastructure Automation Source of Truth - NetBox" lab will guide you through each section of the lab, providing additional context and history of the importance of a source of truth and this lab's role in the broader learning journey for infrastructure engineers learning automation.
  • Overview of the Infrastructure Automation with Ansible Learning Series
  • What is a Source of Truth
  • Overview of the Source of Truth Learning Path
  • Overview of NetBox
  • Introduction to the 'netbox.netbox' Ansible collection
  • Configuring Dynamic Inventory plugin - 'netbox.netbox.nb_inventory'
  • Querying the Inventory
  • Integrating with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform

Goals and Objectives

This session will help attendees understand how NetBox defines the desired state of infrastructure and how to integrate it into the broader automation system.

Who should attend?

Infrastructure engineers who have started down the path of learning how to automate their Infrastructure using Ansible and/or Ansible Automation Platform.
