Cilium Basics
Solution overview
In this lab, participants will learn to create a Kubernetes cluster using OpenShift and integrate Cilium as the Container Network Interface (CNI). The lab will begin with the installation of the Kubernetes cluster, guiding participants through the necessary steps to set up the environment. This step helps in understanding how Kubernetes clusters operate and how OpenShift can be utilized to create and manage clusters faster.
Once the cluster is installed, participants will move on to creating and applying policies to modify its accessibility. These policies are important for controlling the network traffic within the cluster and ensuring that only authorized communications are allowed. By learning to implement these policies, participants will gain insights into the security aspects of Kubernetes and how Cilium can enhance these security measures. The lab will provide detailed instructions and examples to help participants understand the practical applications of these policies.
Finally, participants will test the effectiveness of the policies they have applied. This testing phase is important to verify that the policies are working as intended and that the cluster is functional. Through hands-on experience, participants will be able to see the impact of their configurations and adjustments. This lab offers a introduction to Cilium basics with practical skills in deploying and managing a Kubernetes cluster using Cilium and Openshift.
