World Wide Technology Announces Partnership with Tour Professional and European Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald
September 18, 2024 – World Wide Technology (WWT), a global technology solutions provider leading the AI and Digital Revolution, today announced a new partnership with current European Ryder Cup Captain, five-time PGA TOUR winner and former World No. 1, Luke Donald.
The sponsorship of Donald will include the 46-year-old wearing the WWT logo on his visor at all PGA TOUR and DP World Tour events throughout the duration of his partnership. In addition, Donald will attend the St Andrews Links Collegiate presented by World Wide Technology this October to support the prestigious collegiate golf championship and join the Golf Channel broadcast team as a guest analyst. His alma mater, Northwestern University, is competing in this year's event at St Andrews. Donald, the ninth Golf Ambassador in the WWT family, will officially debut his new WWT look at the DP World Tour's BMW Championship at Wentworth Club, September 19, and will compete in the 2024 World Wide Technology Championship the week of November 4 at El Cardonal at award-winning Diamante Cabo San Lucas in Los Cabos, Mexico.
"We are proud to have such a global representative of the game join the WWT Brand Ambassador Team," said Matt Horner, Executive Vice President, WWT. "Luke brings an established tradition of leadership that aligns perfectly with WWT, both on and off the course. He is a two-time European Ryder Cup Team Captain, former World No. 1, and was awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in 2012. We are thrilled to welcome Luke to our family."
"I am proud to join the World Wide Technology team as a Global Ambassador," said Donald. "It's great to see how well WWT supports both the PGA TOUR and growth of the college game. I can't wait to personally experience the work that WWT does at the World Wide Technology Championship in Cabo, where I will be competing, and secondly, at the St Andrews Links Collegiate event in October, where I will be working as a broadcaster."
WWT's sponsorship of Donald builds on the company's existing involvement in the world of golf, with sponsorships and activations across numerous PGA TOUR events, highlighted by the World Wide Technology Championship at the Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal. WWT is also title sponsor of the Advocates Professional Golf Association (APGA) Tour's Player Development Program, in addition to their presenting sponsorship of the St Andrews Links Collegiate. Other WWT Golf Ambassadors include PGA TOUR Champions star Billy Andrade; PGA TOUR standouts Erik van Rooyen, Ben Griffin, Harry Higgs, Austin Eckroat, Justin Suh and Keith Mitchell; and Lauren Stephenson on the LPGA Tour.
Donald turned professional in 2001 and recorded his first PGA TOUR victory the following year at the Southern Farm Bureau Classic. Between 2011 and 2012 Donald recorded 22 top 10 finishes, five runner-up efforts, three wins and claimed the top spot in the Official World Golf Ranking for 56 weeks. Donald was named PGA TOUR Player of the Year in 2011 and also finished that season ranked No. 1 in adjusted scoring average. The Englishman was the victorious European Ryder Cup team captain in 2023 and will be back as captain in 2025 to defend Europe's title. Donald's professional resume also includes eight international titles and five Ryder Cup appearances as a player, to go with his captaincies.
