World Wide Technology, Inc. Announces New World Headquarters
World Wide Technology and Lodging Hospitality Management announce $95 million Westport Plaza revitalization including new WWT world headquarters & campus
ST. LOUIS, MO (Dec. 22, 2015) – World Wide Technology (WWT) and Lodging Hospitality Management (LHM) are proud to announce a $95 Million joint development effort to create a revitalized Westport Plaza. This announcement concludes an extensive twelve-month effort planning the new development. The project includes support from the State of Missouri, St. Louis County, Maryland Heights and other local agencies. Once complete, the revitalized Westport Plaza will be the new home for World Wide Technology's global headquarters and will also include a significant upgrade to Westport Plaza.
WWT, one of the largest privately held firms in the country and a four-time recipient of Fortune Magazine's 100 Best Places to Work, selected Westport Plaza following an exhaustive, multi-market search for a new headquarters site. The new 210,000 square-foot building will open in mid-2017 and will accommodate up to 1,000 employees. WWT's existing campus in Maryland Heights will continue to operate as a technology and innovation park housing the company's Advanced Technology Center, IT and other operations. Both locations will support the continued growth of WWT with annual additions of approximately 100 new employees across the St. Louis Metro area.
The new WWT headquarters has been designed by M+H Architects and will be built by a joint venture between TW Constructors and Clayco, all located in St. Louis. Once complete, the building will be a state-of-the-art headquarters' for WWT and will become an integral part of the revitalized Westport Plaza.
To support the new WWT building, WWT and LHM also announce plans for a new 763-car public parking garage, a connection from the existing WWT Campus to Westport Plaza and major outdoor improvements to the plaza. In addition, LHM, one of the largest owners of real estate with over 1 million square feet of office and retail space and one of the largest local employers, will begin extensive capital and tenant improvements to the area designed to enhance the Class A status of the development and improve the overall experience for people who work or visit Westport Plaza.
"We envision our headquarters to serve as a collaborative and innovative space for our company, our employees as well as our customers and partners who visit us regularly from all over the country and around the world," said Jim Kavanaugh, CEO and co-founder of World Wide Technology, Inc. "After reviewing our many options it became clear that Westport was the ideal location for our new building given the location and surrounding amenities. We're excited to be partnered with LHM on this project."
"These improvements to the existing Westport Plaza campus will allow Westport to once again serve as the focal point for Maryland Heights," said Bob O'Loughlin, Chief Executive Officer of Lodging Hospitality Management. "The vision of a restored Westport Plaza will allow it to serve the community as a prime location for businesses, social gatherings, dining and special events. On behalf of LHM and WWT, we'd like to thank the State, County and City officials for their support of this important redevelopment project."
