Explore FlashBlade Solutions
Pure Storage® FlashBlade//S™ and FlashBlade//E are both advanced storage solutions designed to handle file and object workloads, but they have some key differences.
Performance & Architecture - FlashBlade//Sâ„¢: This model is designed for high performance and flexibility. It features a modular architecture that decouples compute and capacity, allowing customers to scale them independently based on their needs. This architecture is built on QLC (Quad-Level Cell) flash technology, which provides high performance and scalability.
Target Use Cases - It is ideal for environments that require high performance, such as AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning) workloads, rapid restore integration, and cloud data management solutions. It is designed to consolidate data silos and accelerate data insights and discoveries.
Scalability - Offers elastic scale-out architecture, allowing seamless scaling up to multi-petabyte capacity by simply adding more blades. This model supports independent scaling of performance and capacity, enhancing flexibility and reducing upfront costs.
To Sum It Up - FlashBlade//Sâ„¢ is optimized for high performance and flexibility, making it suitable for demanding workloads.
Performance & Architecture - This model is built on the same architecture as FlashBlade//S but uses lower performant blades. It is designed to target file and object workloads that traditionally run on disk-based storage arrays. FlashBlade//E aims to provide a cost-effective, 100% flash solution that uses less power, requires less cooling, and is more reliable and ultra-dense.
Target Use Cases - This model is more cost-optimized and is suitable for long-term retention and bulk workloads. It is designed to replace traditional disk-based storage arrays, providing better economics and higher reliability than disk while being more power-efficient.
Scalability - While also scalable, it focuses on providing a cost-effective solution for large-scale, less performance-intensive workloads. It uses the same QLC-based Direct Flash Modules (DFMs) as FlashBlade//S but with lower performance blades.
To Sum It Up - FlashBlade//E is designed to be a cost-effective, power-efficient solution for bulk and long-term storage needs.
