Unboxing the Dell PowerEdge XE9680
WWT's Matt Halcomb unboxes the highly anticipated Dell PowerEdge XE9680 system, also known as the Dell HGX. See how this system, part of the Dell Validated Designs for GenAI with NVIDIA, fits into WWT's AI Proving Ground lab environment.
The Dell PowerEdge XE9680 (HGX) system is Dell's first 8x GPU platform. This high-performance server is designed and optimized for AI training and high-performance computing (HPC) use cases like:
- Large language models (LLM)
- Recommendation engines
- Molecular dynamics and genome sequencing
The PowerEdge XE9680 features 56-core 4th Gen Intel Xeon processors and 8 x NVIDIA H100 GPUs— the highest GPU memory capacity and bandwidth currently available on the market.
Additional features of the PowerEdge XE9680 include:
- 100% air-cooled solution
- Supports both internal and external GPU direct storage
- Supports up to 16 internal drives
- Robust remote manageability via Dell's iDRAC and OpenManage Enterprise (OME) products
The PowerEdge XE9680 is engineered to significantly enhance application performance by driving the most complex GenAI, machine learning/deep learning (ML/DL) and HPC workloads.
