Partner POV | Shaping the Next Wave of Video Conferencing with Logitech and Microsoft's IntelliFrame

It's essential to be seen and heard clearly during video conference meetings. But beyond camera clarity, the ability to differentiate and connect the individuals in the room to remote participants helps transform interactions into personal, face-to-face connections. 

In 2022, Microsoft unveiled IntelliFrame at Ignite 2022. As part of the announcement, Microsoft announced, "IntelliFrame enhances the focus and framing of in-room meeting attendees so that all meeting participants - including those in the room - have their own, individual frame in the video gallery… based on the camera deployed in a Teams Room, there are three ways IntelliFrame comes to life."

Since the announcement, Logitech has delivered the IntelliFrame experience in all three different methodologies, improving the equity of hybrid meetings and ensuring that in-room participants have better representation during virtual meetings. Let's explore each one to grasp how Intelliframe is enhancing meetings in a variety of scenarios.

IntelliFrame with Intelligent Cameras

For Teams Rooms outfitted with an intelligent camera capable of producing multiple video streams, IntelliFrame delivers an enhanced video gallery experience to help participants feel closer to those in the room and ensure that in-room attendees feel more included, heard, and seen.

As part of this category, Microsoft has certified intelligent cameras, built with Microsoft AI. Logitech Sight, used in collaboration with Rally Bar or Rally Bar Mini, is a prime example of one of these certified cameras. Positioned at the center of the table, Sight pairs with the Rally Bar to offer a front-and-center view, ensuring remote participants get an up-close view of table discussions with a wider room view for additional context.

IntelliFrame with Logitech AI Features

In Teams Rooms outfitted with a camera capable of running advanced OEM AI features, remote attendees see an IntelliFrame view of the room's participants.

To deliver this IntelliFrame method, we collaborated with Microsoft to integrate our RightSight 2 Grid View technology with Teams Rooms. This integration brought IntelliFrame to Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows and Android equipped with Rally Bar, Rally Bar Mini, and Rally Bar Huddle. 

In our most recent release, a standout feature of Logitech's IntelliFrame delivery is the ability to create individual frames for more than the traditional four participants in a composite view. With our latest feature called Sub-Tiling, we can now individually frame up to eight individuals, all adjusted to display participants at similar heights and minimize fragments of individuals that might appear in other frames.

Within these first two categories, what makes Logitech's experience so powerful is how we expand the vision for IntelliFrame. We offer the standard viewing options of active speaker view, room view, and composite view, but with Logitech Sight, we transform that experience for medium and large rooms by adding a camera to the center of the table. Additionally, with Sub-Tiling we frame even more individuals within Microsoft's composite view for even more in-room representation.

Cloud IntelliFrame

Certified peripherals like MeetUp and Rally Cameras connected to a certified Microsoft Teams Room on a Windows computer with a Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro license can receive a similar view, with participants receiving their own individual frames during the meeting. This is particularly important for customers who have a large install base of such devices and are not ready to upgrade.

This approach allows for a similar face-to-face experience between in-room and remote participants in rooms with other types of Logitech cameras. 

In collaboration with Microsoft, Logitech offers the flexibility to create equitable meeting experiences across rooms of any configuration through our devices and the Microsoft IntelliFrame technology. Intelliframe works across the Logitech conference camera portfolio to enhance the inclusivity and visibility of participants in conference settings. This approach improves engagement and interaction between remote participants and those in the room, fostering a more connected and interactive hybrid work environment.
