Optical networking and Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) have long been the technology of choice for transporting large amounts of data between sites. New technology trends like 5G, autonomous vehicles and smart cities rely on optical networking as a transport foundation. The purpose of this training is to help you become familiar with the basic building blocks of an optical network and gain an understanding of the key benefits provided by optical networks.

Segment Routing is the latest technology that replaces MPLS and is based on source routing. Segment Routing provides complete control over the forwarding path from the source node by encoding the path in the header of the packet. Segment Routing is implemented using extensions to the native IGP routing protocols, it does not require any additional protocols and removes unnecessary protocols simplifying the network. Segment Routing runs natively on an MPLS or IPv6 data plane and can coexist with LDP, making for a painless migration. Cisco's Crosswork Network Controller or CNC is a Segment Routing SDN Traffic Engineering Controller for transport networks. CNC can create engineered Transport paths using SR-TE parameters and provision and link these paths to VPN services. CNC performs real-time network optimization based on current network conditions utilizing the Crosswork Optimization Engine.

This playlist is recommended to be used in conjunction with part 1 of our Cisco ACI Fundamentals Lab using the Cisco ACI APIC simulator. After these videos, you will understand how to integrate Cisco SD-WAN with carrier neutral facility providers, public cloud platforms and some of the most popular security service edge (SSE) vendors.

These videos will show the students how to perform the labs in detail and answer any other questions not covered in the lab guide itself. The videos will cover: ACI 101 policy basics, the configuration of an APP Profile under the Tenant, EPGs, Bridge domains, contracts, and filters inside their tenant. The student will integrate their EPGs with Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) Networking which creates port groups on the DVS, and then place VMs in their respective port groups and verify data path connectivity. The students will then create layer 2 and layer 3 connectivity outside the fabric and verify the data path connectivity. Finally, students will learn micro-segmentation techniques to segment the traffic inside an EPG.
